Russia intends to participate in G20 events in the UK in 2027.

Russia's G20 Sherpa Denis Agafonov noted that limiting Russia's participation in G20 events will affect the format and legitimacy of the G20.

The third G20 Sherpa meeting took place on October 1–2 in Washington, and Denis Agafonov took part in it.

WASHINGTON, October 3 – RIA Novosti. Russia intends to participate in G20 events in the UK in 2027, Russia's G20 Sherpa Denis Agafonov said on Friday.

“We, as Russia, I, as a representative in this process, as a Sherpa, we plan and are determined to take part (in these events - ed.),” Agafonov said at a press conference with Russian media in Washington, answering the question of whether Russia intends to participate in G20 events in the UK.

Agafonov noted that Russia is a full member of the G20. He added that it is too early to say whether any steps can be taken by Great Britain aimed at limiting the participation of the Russian Federation in G20 events. According to him, this would be short-sighted.

“This (limiting Russia’s participation in G20 events - ed.) will in any case affect the G20 format as a whole, will undermine its legitimacy, not to mention the fact that not a single decision made without the full composition of participants will be consensual. But it seems to me that there is no need to talk about this yet,” the Russian Sherpa added.

The G20 summit will take place in Miami on December 14-15.
