Man is preventively arrested for assault against child in Iati, PE

According to the court decision, the child was taken to a health center close to the family's residence, where several bruises were found on the body. The man was charged with bodily injury in the context of domestic and family violence. His name was not released to protect the child's identity.

According to the Civil Police, the incident was recorded by the Police Station of the 143rd Circumscription, in Iati, under the coordination of delegate Alexciana Farias. The corporation reported that an investigation was launched to clarify all the facts.

In the decision that converted the arrest into preventive, judge Maurício Santos Gusmão Júnior stated that there are, to date, elements that point to the materiality of the crime and evidence of authorship. Among the evidence cited is a trauma report and statements collected during the investigation.

According to the document, the child's mother initially denied the attacks, but later reported to the police that her partner had attacked the girl. The report also mentions that an 8-year-old sister said that her stepfather squeezed the child's eyes with his fingers while she cried.

The decision states that preventive detention was considered necessary to guarantee public order and protect the physical and mental integrity of the children who lived with the suspect. The judge also ordered the Iati Guardianship Council to visit the family's residence to check the situation of the children and adopt the appropriate protective measures.

The man was sent to the Saloá Public Prison or to another prison unit closer to the family, as determined by the court.

The Civil Police reported that, after being booked at the police station, the suspect was sent to a custody hearing. The Judiciary converted the arrest into preventative arrest.
