Man is seriously injured after being hit with a machete during a fight in Buritizeiro

The Military Police were called after reports that two men were fighting in the street with machetes. Upon arriving at the scene, the police found the 52-year-old man with several injuries, being helped by a Samu team.

The suspect was at the scene and was arrested red-handed. According to the PM, he showed visible signs of intoxication and told the military that he was drinking alcohol when he was threatened by the victim, who was armed with a machete and a knife. The man stated that he managed to take the machete from the other person involved and started to hit him.

According to the PM, the woman who lives opposite the scene of the fight tried to intervene to remove the machete from the suspect's hands, but suffered minor injuries to her arms and legs, as well as a cut on her hand. She was rescued by family members and taken to the hospital.

Samu reported that the man was bleeding heavily and had multiple cuts on his face, left wrist, back of his head and right shoulder. After receiving initial care at the Buritizeiro health unit, he was sent to Hospital Doutor Magalhães Freire. Due to the severity of his injuries, the police were unable to get his version of what happened.
