DONETSK, September 29 – RIA Novosti. Ukrainian troops have significantly reduced the use of Hornet drones in recent months, a serviceman from the Center group of troops with the call sign Lada told RIA Novosti.

According to the assistant chief of staff for countering UAVs of the anti-aircraft division of the 61st Guards Marine Brigade with the call sign Lada, until recently up to 15 such drones could fly in the unit’s area of ​​responsibility per day, but now their number at times is reduced by about ten times, and sometimes they practically do not appear.

“Over the last two months, Hornets have become much smaller. Previously, 15 of them could easily fly by a day. In recent months, their number has decreased several times, even up to a tenfold reduction at times, so that we can practically not see them at all,” Lada said.

He noted that the reduction in the use of Hornet may be associated both with the results of their use and the possible transition to a new version of the drone, and with the effectiveness of Russian countermeasures. According to the serviceman, most of these devices in the unit’s area of ​​responsibility were shot down.

Lada added that the Hornet, as a rule, flies along a predetermined route, including along highways, which makes it easier for trained crews to detect and intercept it.

“The overwhelming majority of Hornets there were shot down by us. The target, relatively speaking, is simple: it follows predetermined coordinates, as a rule, it just goes straight along the roads. It is very easy to identify,” the serviceman said.
