Peruíbe Municipal Hospital expands capacity with 16 new pediatric beds

According to the unit's administration, the beds will serve children up to 12 years old from Peruíbe and other municipalities in the region. The hospital is managed by the Fundação do ABC in partnership with the City of Peruíbe and offers care through the Unified Health System (SUS).

With the expansion, the hospital now operates with 46 beds. In addition to the 16 pediatrics, there are ten vacancies in the adult ICU and 20 in the Medical Clinic ward for adults.

The complete structure of the HMP provides for 72 beds. With the new services, around 64% of the planned capacity is in operation.

Patients will be referred to the new services through the municipal regulation system, which organizes hospitalizations according to their clinical condition and the availability of places.

Hospitalized children will be able to undergo laboratory tests, ultrasounds and x-rays in the hospital itself. According to the unit, other diagnostic support tests will still be implemented.

The implementation of Municipal Hospital services occurs gradually. According to the unit, the next steps include offering new exams and, subsequently, carrying out surgical procedures.

The HMP opened on June 18 and has already recorded 176 admissions, 119 discharges and 12 patient transfers. The unit was designed for medium complexity care and operates exclusively through the SUS.
