Government of Tocantins decrees official three-day mourning for the death of singer Rick, from the duo Rick and Renner

The governor of Tocantins, Wanderlei Barbosa, declared three days of official mourning in the state for the death of Tocantins native Rick, a member of the duo with Renner. The wreckage of the helicopter he was in with four other people was found this Tuesday (22), in the Santa Bárbara region, in the interior of Urubici, in Santa Catarina.

In addition to Rick, businessman Bruno Avelar, videomaker Paulo Soares, the pilot and co-pilot of the aircraft, identified by the company only as Antônio and Leopoldo, respectively, were on the helicopter. The aircraft had disappeared this Monday (21). Information about the location of the wreckage was confirmed by the Santa Catarina Fire Department.

The government highlighted Rick's remarkable career in country music, highlighted that he was the son of Monte do Carmo, in the central region of the state, and recalled that the singer served as Secretary of Cultural Promotion of the Government of Tocantins, in 2014, during the administration of Siqueira Campos. Born in Monte do Carmo, in the central region of Tocantins — at the time, Goiás territory —, singer and composer Rick was 59 years old and would turn 60 in December.

"Actually, I say that I was born in Monte do Carmo because it was the municipality, right? But, if my father sees this interview here, he will say: 'I told you not to say that, because those born in the bush are rice and beans'. But I was born in the countryside, in the middle of the bush. In that midwife thing, right... and I stayed in the bush until I was 10 years old, which was when I had the opportunity to go to the city. I went through there, went to Porto Nacional and then I changed to Brasília. But I lived a period of my life literally in the countryside."

Even living an intense routine between schedules, the singer maintained ties with Tocantins, where he has brothers and family.

Helicopter left the North Coast of SC

The aircraft took off from Porto Belo, on the North Coast, in the morning, bound for São Joaquim, in Serra, and did not arrive at the scheduled location. The region had a forecast of strong storms, according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet).

Firefighters received a call around 4pm on Monday about the disappearance of the aircraft. The searches began during the night and were reinforced on Tuesday morning.

The aircraft with five bodies was found late in the morning.

The helicopter model is the PP-MGR - Bell 430. The helicopter has capacity for one pilot and seven passengers. The maximum take-off weight is 4,218 kilograms in the version with ski-type landing gear.
