8 US soldiers injured in Iranian attack in the Strait of Hormuz

Eight US marines were injured in Iran's anti-ship cruise missile attack in the Strait of Hormuz on September 14, according to three US officials who spoke to NBC News.

It was stated that 7 of the injured were privates and one was an officer. It was reported that the soldiers inhaled smoke and showed concussion symptoms such as headaches after the attack, so they were evaluated for the possibility of traumatic brain injury.

Officials announced that the injuries were not serious and all 8 soldiers returned to their duties in a short time.

US officials stated that the attacked vehicle did not belong to the US Navy.

However, the exact status of the vehicle was not disclosed. Authorities described the vehicle in question only as a “marine.”

It was stated that the marines were serving as part of a battalion landing unit during the attack.

PENTAGON DID NOT ANNOUNCE THE ATTACK BEFORE

The US Department of Defense has never publicly announced such an attack targeting US forces on September 14.

While the US Central Command (CENTCOM) did not comment on the issue, the Pentagon referred questions to CENTCOM.

Thus, information about the Iranian attack and the wounding of eight marines was revealed to the public for the first time.

According to the Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS) data, where the US Department of Defense tracks military losses and injuries, the number of US soldiers injured in the war with Iran reached 861 as of last week.

It was stated that eight marines were added to the system approximately 10 days after the attack.

A US official said that injury records may be processed into the system with a delay, especially because symptoms such as traumatic brain injury may appear after the incident.

TENSION CONTINUES IN THE STRAIT OF HORmuz
