Fire in residence leaves family injured and causes material losses in João Pessoa

The fire started shortly after midnight in the property located on Rua Antônio Ferreira Sobrinho. Resident Alice Maria de Oliveira Mendes, 34, said that the fire started in the living room, where her husband, Geanderson Fonseca, 43, had left a cell phone charging that would be repaired by him, who works in cell phone maintenance.

According to Alice, the cell phone was plugged in and, while the family was sleeping, the equipment or charger had broken down and started to catch fire. The flames reached the sofa and quickly spread throughout the living room and bedroom where the family was.

Upon noticing the fire, Geanderson first removed the couple's four-year-old daughter from the property. The child suffered minor bruises. Alice was also removed by her husband and suffered burns to her face and arms. She's doing well.

Geanderson was the last to leave the house and suffered burns over a large area of ​​his body, mainly on his back. He was initially taken to the Emergency Room at Hospital Natividade and then transferred to a hospital specializing in the treatment of burns, in Rio de Janeiro, where he remains hospitalized.

The Fire Department was called and teams from Detachment 4/21 went to the address to fight the flames. The living room and one of the bedrooms were destroyed.

In addition to furniture and personal items, customer materials that were in the house to be repaired by Geanderson were also lost in the fire.

The family is now trying to get back to their routine after the fire. The Municipal Department of Social Assistance reported that it will provide assistance to residents, who lost several belongings.

Alice also seeks donations, especially for her daughter. According to her, the girl lost her clothes and objects that were in the room.
