Suspect of killing and burying an elderly woman in Campo Mourão had been in a relationship with the victim for two years

Anderson do Nascimento Silva, named by the police as the main suspect of killing and burying Isabel Brilhador in the backyard of her house, had been in a relationship with the elderly woman for two years, according to police chief Luã Mota. According to relatives, the family did not know about the relationship between the elderly woman and the suspect.

The victim, aged 65, had been missing since September 4 in Campo Mourão, in the center-west of Paraná. The elderly woman's body was found buried in a vegetable garden at her home this Tuesday (15), after an anonymous tip. At the scene of the crime, there were no signs of violence.

The suspect, aged 31, has been temporarily detained since Thursday (10).

The police found a transfer via PIX of approximately R$80,000 from the elderly woman's account to Anderson's in the week of her disappearance. According to the delegate, the man had access to the victim's bank accounts and, upon interrogation, he did not deny having received the amount.

The suspect was interviewed by the police twice and, according to the corporation, he presented contradictions during the interrogations. He must be heard again after Isabel's death is confirmed.

If the authorship of the crime is confirmed, he must answer for feminicide, concealment of a corpse, procedural fraud and qualified theft. Exams must identify the cause of the victim's death.

The family noticed Isabel's disappearance after finding the profile of the messages sent by the elderly woman's cell phone strange.

According to her daughter, in some messages, the elderly woman reported that she was sick and was going to travel around the state. The daughter tried to call Isabel, but there was no response.

Family members went to her property and entered with the help of a locksmith. There, on the bed, were clothes from a trip that the retiree was going to take to Curitiba in the next few days.

According to Luã Mota, the police believe that the elderly woman may have been murdered at the end of August and that the killer may have deceived the family for some time through the messages.

Suspect's note

"Anderson do Nascimento Silva's defense, in view of the news broadcast regarding the disappearance of Isabel Brilhador, informs that his constituent firmly and categorically denies any participation in the facts investigated.

It is clarified that the case is still in the investigation phase, with no definitive conclusion regarding the circumstances of Isabel's disappearance.

Anderson remains at the disposal of the authorities and will provide all necessary clarifications to clarify the facts.

It is important to highlight that the detention ordered is temporary in nature, a precautionary measure typical of the investigative phase, and is not to be confused with preventive detention, nor does it represent recognition of guilt or anticipation of conviction.

The defense is already adopting the appropriate legal measures and challenging the decision through an appropriate appeal, as it understands that there are not sufficient concrete grounds for maintaining the deprivation of liberty.
