Israel targeted Hezbollah tunnels in Lebanon

According to the Lebanese news agency NNA, the address of the Israeli attacks was the El-Mansuri town of the city of Sur, the Binti Jubeil and Mercaiyun districts of Nabatiyeh and the Ali et-Tahir hills.

While residential areas in Mansouri were targeted with air strikes, a house in the Al-Arish district of Binti Jubeil was destroyed by 2 missiles.

Mercaiyun Plain was the target of bullets fired from Israeli artillery.

A violent explosion occurred in the Ali et-Tahir hills. No information was shared regarding any deaths or injuries in the attacks.

In the statement made by the Israeli army, it was stated that the tunnels in the Ali et-Tahir Hills, which were over 2 kilometers long and claimed to belong to Hezbollah, were targeted.

In the joint written statement made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, it was noted that with the destruction of the tunnels, the process of organizing the "safe buffer zone" in the south of Lebanon was completed, and that the army would not leave this region and would work to prevent Hezbollah from re-deploying there.

Israel's attacks in Lebanon and the ceasefire process

Israel launched an attack on Lebanon in October 2023, and this attack turned into a large-scale war in September 2024. More than 4 thousand people lost their lives in the war and approximately 17 thousand people were injured.

The Israeli army launched intense air attacks on Lebanon on March 2 and occupied many towns in the south of the country.

The Lebanese government announced that the number of people displaced in the country during this period exceeded 1 million.

The ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, which came into force on April 17, was later extended several times. However, despite the ceasefire, the Israeli army continues its attacks against the country for various reasons.
