The contemporary circus event, organized in Gündoğdu Square with the contributions of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and the French Cultural Center, brought together acrobatics and performance arts. Within the scope of the event organized by the "Cirque Entre Nous" community, acrobatics workshop and contemporary circus show met with art lovers throughout the day. Four artists from different origins and various experiences met around three Chinese pillars. Emphasizing the importance of people encountering art in their daily lives instead of only in halls, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Theater Coordinator Gönenç Atikler said, "This is a vision adopted by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. We attach great importance to bringing the activities of international teams together with the people of Izmir."
IZMIRIANS EXPERIENCED CONTEMPORARY CIRCUS ART
An acrobatics workshop was held in the morning for participants aged 18 and over. Participants in the workshop organized with the artists of the community; He experienced the relationship between body, movement and space through different exercises. In the study, where the idea of acting together and collective production came to the fore, participants had the opportunity to explore both their own bodies and the movement relationship they established with each other.
DIFFERENT DISCIPLINES MEET ON THE SAME STAGE
The second meeting of the day was the "Entre Nous..." show held in Gündoğdu Square. The performance where four artists took the stage; It brought together acrobatics, dance, theater and live music on the same stage. In the show, where nostalgia and humor were intertwined, people's encounters, the bonds they established with each other, and their ways of acting together were depicted with an original choreography.
32-year-old French artist Theo Legros Lefeuvre said, "The audience was very cheerful and they contributed to the show. We enjoy performing in public spaces. Such events are held frequently in France, and we are very happy to be able to exhibit our art in an event that the public can access free of charge."
Modern circus artist Matias Plaul, who said that they came to Izmir for the first time and liked the city very much, said, "We would like to thank Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and French Culture. Without them, we would not have had the opportunity to exhibit our art in Izmir."
THEY BECAME PART OF THE SAME MOMENT
Throughout the performance, where horizontal and vertical spaces were used together, the artists blended acrobatic movements with dance and theatrical expression. The show invited the audience to not only witness a performance, but also to laugh together and be part of the moment.
The people of Izmir were also very interested in the modern circus show. Stating that she frequently follows free events, Büşra Yıldırım said, "If the Metropolitan Municipality did not organize such events for free, we would not be able to find a place to socialize. It was wonderful that the community came here from abroad. I also came with my camera to capture beautiful shots."
Stating that she made a point of participating in the events organized by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Dilara Şimşek said: "It is very nice to have such a show in the city square where everyone spends time. The children enjoyed it very much. It also appealed to the childish side of us adults, it was enjoyable. I try to be involved in the events organized by the municipality as much as I can.
