In this period when red meat prices are in the 600-700 lira range, Izmir residents looking for a budget-friendly and healthy alternative flock to the fish markets and enjoy consuming cheap bonito.

With the opening of the fishing season in the seas, fishermen's nets were filled with abundance. The abundance of bonito in fish stalls in Izmir makes both tradesmen and low-income citizens happy. Bonito, which is sold for 100 lira each, has become the most preferred champion of the stalls.

Citizens looking for alternatives due to high red meat prices found the solution in fish stalls. In addition to bonito, anchovies and sardines, which sell for 150 to 250 liras per kilo, also increased the activity on the stalls. Citizens emphasize that consuming fish, which is cheaper than half the price, both relieves their budget and provides great health benefits.

We eat fish 2-3 days a week at our home; we recommend all our citizens to consume fish at least two days a week."
