Court maintains suspension of notice that outsources management of municipal schools in São Paulo

The Court decided to keep suspended the São Paulo City Hall notice that provides for the transfer of the pedagogical and administrative management of three municipal schools to civil society organizations (CSOs). For judge Maricy Maraldi, from the 10th Public Finance Court, there are still doubts about the legality of this model, which justifies the interruption of the process until a definitive analysis of the merits of the proposal.

The decision was taken as part of a popular action filed by councilor Silvia Ferraro, from the PSOL Feminist Caucus. The judge highlighted that the suspension of the notice had already been previously determined by judge Marcelo Semer, from the 10th Chamber of Public Law of the Court of Justice of São Paulo (TJ-SP), in another action presented by the Public Ministry and the Public Defender's Office.

The outsourcing of school management is defended by Mayor Ricardo Nunes as an alternative to improving learning indicators in the municipal network. Last month, when commenting on the capital's performance in the Basic Education Development Index (Ideb), which was below the national average, the mayor pointed to the experience of Liceu Coração de Jesus as an example to be followed.
