Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took a new step in the investigation into the death of former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who died in 2011 in Silivri Prison, which he entered with the Ergenekon conspiracy.
While judicial proceedings were initiated against 11 suspects who were working in prison on the date of the incident, 10 people were detained and it was determined that 1 suspect was abroad.
According to Sabah's news, the guard named Ferhat Veysi Gül, who started working in May 2011, was specifically assigned to the ward where Kozinoğlu was staying. As Kozinoğlu became ill on the day of the incident, the emergency button was pressed in the ward.
However, Gül, who saw the warning on the central board, made a scandalous move instead of intervening. In the images reflected in the camera records; It was determined that after the warning, correctional officer Gül went in the opposite direction and turned up the volume of the radio in the room, thus preventing other guards from hearing the alarm.
It was seen that the guard muffled the cries for help with walkie-talkie and radio sounds, and then calmly headed towards the mosque. About 15 minutes after the incident, the situation was noticed by other officers.
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made a statement regarding the investigation launched into Kozinoğlu's death on his social media account.

"We are determined not to leave any suspicious deaths in the dark, even as the years pass. We re-examine the files that raise a question mark in the public conscience, regardless of the time that has passed, and we track down every piece of evidence that can be found.
Former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu fell ill in Silivri No. 1 L Type Closed Penal Institution, where he was detained, on 12 November 2011, and was referred to Silivri State Hospital; It was determined that he died when he was taken to the hospital.
In the investigation carried out after the incident, camera records and medical documents were examined; Witness statements were taken from the penal institution, gendarmerie and medical staff, his cellmates and the deceased's wife; On April 10, 2012, it was decided that there was no need for prosecution.
Our Unsolved Crimes Investigation Department re-examined the file; In the light of the evaluations made by our Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the decision of non-prosecution was lifted and the investigation was restarted with the decision of the Silivri Criminal Judgeship of Peace dated 26 August 2026.
Within the scope of the new investigation, a confidentiality decision was taken, a special investigation team was formed and comprehensive studies were initiated to shed light on all aspects of the incident.
At today's stage, our Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated legal proceedings against 11 suspects who were working in the penal institution on the date of the incident; "10 suspects were detained, and 1 suspect was found to be abroad as a FETO fugitive."
Kaşif Kozinoğlu, born in Trabzon in 1955, served in the National Intelligence Organization. He served in various positions on behalf of MİT in regions such as Central Asia, the Caucasus and Afghanistan.
Kozinoğlu was arrested in 2011 within the scope of the Oda TV case. He died on November 12, 2011, while he was detained in Silivri Prison, shortly before making his defense.
In the statements made after his death, it was reported that Kozinoğlu had a heart attack.
Kozinoğlu's words in a statement he made shortly before his death, "They can make you do anything, including killing," also attracted attention after the investigation came to the agenda again.
It is stated that in the new investigation, statements and records regarding Kozinoğlu's last period in prison were examined.
