New development in the investigation into the death of Kaşif Kozinoğlu

The investigation launched by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the death of former MİT officer Kozinoğlu, who died in Silivri Prison in 2011, for the crimes of "deliberate murder", "establishing, leading and being a member of an organization for the purpose of committing a crime" and "opposition to law no. 2937" continues.

Convict G.E., who was determined to have committed theft by the Forensic Medicine Institute on November 22, 2011, 9 days after Kozinoğlu's death on November 13, 2011, and who has a final sentence for fraud and theft, will be questioned as a "suspect" within the scope of the investigation.

What happened?

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made a statement regarding the investigation into Kozinoğlu's death on his social account.

Minister Gürlek stated that the file was re-examined by the Unsolved Crimes Investigation Department and that a confidentiality decision was taken within the scope of the new investigation, and that a special investigation team was formed and comprehensive work was started to re-clarify all aspects of the incident.

In the first operation in the investigation, 10 suspects who were working in the penal institution on the date of the incident were detained, and it was determined that 1 suspect was abroad as a fugitive within the scope of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO). One of the 10 suspects taken into custody was arrested, and 9 of them were released, 7 of them on condition of judicial control.

During the work carried out within the scope of the investigation, 9 more suspects, including a reporter, cameraman and 7 healthcare workers, were detained. The judgeship decided to arrest 3 suspects, including the reporter, and to impose judicial control measures on 6 suspects, including the cameraman.

Upon the request of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Kozinoğlu's conquest and burial was carried out.

Within the scope of the investigation, the scriptwriters of the Kurtlar Vadisi TV series, Raci Şaşmaz, Bahadır Özdener and Cüneyt Aysan, gave a statement to the prosecutor's office as "informed" and an investigation was launched about the Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu series.

The number of detainees increased to 9

During the investigation, Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor Ali İşgören and prison prosecutor Necip Doğan, who were on duty at the time of the incident, were arrested, and judicial control measures were also imposed on Kozinoğlu's cellmates, retired marine captain Hasan Ataman Yıldırım and gendarmerie colonel Hasan Atilla Uğur.

Former journalist Osman Arslan was arrested, judicial control measures were taken against then-prison director Ömer Vatan and then-shift chief Kazım Beyke, and ambulance driver Süleyman Kaba was released after his statement at the gendarmerie.

During the investigation, the statements of actor Emin Olcay, who played the character "Ömer Baba" in the TV series Kurtlar Vadisi, and Sedat Savtak, who played the character "Kazım Kaşifoğlu", were taken as "witnesses".

Within the scope of the investigation, the statement of the Chairman of the Homeland Party, Doğu Perinçek, was taken as "informed".

Enver Altaylı, who was convicted in the case in which he was tried within the scope of FETO, was also arrested.
