Those who lost their lives on the ship that sank off the coast of TRNC were sent off to their final voyage.

Mehmet Asaf Biçer (5) and Nihat Pancar (51), whose lifeless bodies were found days after they got lost on the ship that sank off the coast of Kyrenia, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), were sent off to their final journey.

The Turkish catamaran passenger ship, which departed from TRNC to Mersin's Taşucu Port on August 30, capsized. The lifeless bodies of Mehmet Asaf Biçer (5) and Nihat Pancar, who were lost in the accident, were found yesterday. The number of deaths in the incident increased to 18.

The bodies of Biçer and Pancar were brought to Hatay after their procedures. The funeral of Mehmet Asaf Biçer, who disappeared with his sister Saliha Miray in the accident that occurred while returning from vacation with his family, was buried in Reyhanlı district, and the funeral of Nihat Pancar, who lost his life while taking leave from his job as a cook and coming to his hometown for a holiday to surprise his family, was buried in Samandağ district with the participation of his relatives and many people.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The high-speed passenger ship named "Fleet Jet", which was operating between Kyrenia Port in Northern Cyprus and Taşucu Port in Mersin, started to take in water from its front part shortly after departing from Kyrenia at noon on Sunday, August 30, and sank while trying to return to Kyrenia Port.

Northern Cyprus Prime Minister Ünal Üstel pointed out that there were a total of 267 passengers and crew on the ship and stated that 239 people were rescued after the ship sank. It was reported that the wreckage of the sunken ship was found at a depth of 554 meters off the coast of Kyrenia, and it was determined that 14 passengers on the ship lost their lives. In the first stage, it was stated that 14 people were missing. While the bodies of 4 more people have been recovered, the search for the missing 10 people continues.
