Who is entitled to an energy lump sum?

Electricity allowance is not a universal benefit. It is available to selected social groups that meet strictly defined conditions. The following people can apply for an energy lump sum:

- people with veteran status,

- victims of war or post-war repression,

- soldiers forcibly employed in mines, quarries, construction battalions or in the extraction of uranium ore,

- widows and widowers of eligible persons, if they receive a pension or disability pension themselves.

Importantly, the amount of income does not matter here - the only thing that matters is meeting the statutory criteria.

How much is the electricity allowance in 2026?

From March 1, 2026, the energy lump sum is exactly PLN 336.16 per month. This amount is subject to annual indexation, just like pensions.

This year the benefit increased by 5.3 percent. The allowance is not taxed and does not affect other benefits, so the entire amount goes directly to those entitled to it.

How to apply for an energy lump sum?

To receive electricity subsidies, you must submit an appropriate application to any ZUS branch or send it by post. A ZUS-ERK form is required, which can be downloaded from the Institute's website or obtained at the branch.

The application must be accompanied by documents confirming the right to the benefit, e.g. a certificate of veteran status or a decision of the Head of the Office for Veterans and Victims of Oppression.

There is no specific deadline for submitting an application - you can do it at any time of the year. ZUS examines the documents within 30 days, and the payment is made no later than the following month after a positive decision.

Benefit payment – ​​when and how will you receive the money?

The energy lump sum is paid together with the monthly pension or annuity, to a bank account or in cash - at the beneficiary's choice. Importantly, the funds are not transferred directly to energy suppliers - you decide how to use them.
