State election in Saxony-Anhalt 2026: Wahl-O-Mat launched

The state elections in Saxony-Anhalt will take place on September 6, 2026. The vote will decide who will govern the federal state in the next five-year legislative period. A total of 1.78 million eligible voters are called upon to cast their votes at the ballot box. This year, 15 parties are standing for election.

Wahl-O-Mat Saxony-Anhalt: Which party is right for me?

As with every election in Saxony-Anhalt, the Federal Agency for Civic Education surveyed the parties standing for election and compiled their plans and positions on 38 topics.

How is the bpb Wahl-O-Mat created?

The Wahl-O-Mat for this year's election in Saxony-Anhalt was developed by the Federal Agency for Civic Education. In collaboration with young and first-time voters, a questionnaire was developed that contains 38 theses on central questions of state politics in Saxony-Anhalt. The parties standing for election were then asked to take a position on the individual theses.

Users of the Wahl-O-Mat can click “agree”, “disagree” or “neutral” for each individual thesis. At the end, users can select the parties they are interested in or all parties at the same time for evaluation. The party selection can be changed as often as you like without having to answer the 38 Wahl-O-Mat theses again.

The Wahl-O-Mat then calculates which party is closest to the voter and shows the individual positions of the parties for each theory.

What does the Wahl-O-Mat result mean?

The result of the Wahl-O-Mats is not a concrete voting recommendation, but simply shows which parties you have the greatest agreement with in terms of content - and which parties the least. On the results page you can also see what the parties say about the individual theses. This function of the Wahl-O-Mat also helps you to become more familiar with the election programs and thus make a decision for the state elections.
