Lavrov Called Germany's Closing of the Russian Consulate a Disgusting Decision

Lavrov met with faculty members and students of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) in the capital Moscow. Speaking at the meeting, Lavrov said about Germany's decision to close Russia's Consulate General in Bonn: "This is a disgusting decision taken by the Germans. They closed our consulate general in Bonn with a baseless excuse." made his assessment.

Referring to the Ukrainian crisis, Lavrov said, "The conflicts in Ukraine must be ended in a way that leaves no room for Nazism in Europe. If we allow the current regime in Ukraine to remain in power, we will betray those who defeated Nazism in 1945." he said.

Lavrov emphasized that they are open to relations with Western countries, but they will not be the same as before and said, "There will never be trust in the West, which has deceived us in the past and now." he said.

Stating that the USA and Israel should be included in the consultations on security in the Middle East, Lavrov said, "The inclusion of Iran in the security system in the Persian Gulf region will be an important step in ensuring stability in the region." he said.
