Pope Leo XIV on four-day official visit to France

Pope Leo XIV flew to Paris this Friday. The pontiff's plane took off from Rome's Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino airport. Landing is planned at Paris-Orly around 10 a.m. during the planned four-day visit to France.

This Friday, he will meet Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée before visiting UNESCO and giving a speech there. In the afternoon, he will stroll along the grand boulevards of the capital before celebrating vespers at Notre-Dame.

He will then go to the Stade de France where a prayer vigil is planned with young people aged 17 to 35. The next day, the large open-air mass takes place on the Place de la Concorde and on the Champs-Élysées, where more than 600,000 people are expected.

Prayers, meetings, masses…

He must then go to Lourdes on Saturday evening, where he will pray in the Grotto of the Apparitions. He will also hold a mass there on Sunday morning and meet victims of sexual violence.

Leo XIV goes to Metz on Monday to deliver a speech on Europe, where a mass is also being organized. The sovereign pontiff will thus close his visit to France, before taking off for his return to the Vatican.
