YouTuber and comedian Greg Guillotin placed in police custody

YouTuber and comedian Greg Guillotin, known for his hidden cameras, is currently in police custody in Palaiseau in Essonne. The measurement began this Monday morning at 9:00 a.m., according to information from Le Figaro. “It has been planned for several weeks and he was waiting for this moment to be able to explain himself,” reacts his lawyer, Me Tom Michel. “My client intends to respond fully to the facts with which he is accused, to make his version heard and to provide all the elements useful to the investigation. He does not seek to shirk and intends to assume his responsibilities.”

An investigation into “habitual violence against a spouse and moral harassment” was opened following a complaint filed on June 17 by a former companion of the YouTuber. Aged 27, she accuses Grégory Guillotin of repeated physical and psychological violence between 2019 and 2026, at the time of their relationship.

In her complaint, she describes a system of surveillance, humiliation, insults and control, said AFP when the facts were revealed, a few weeks earlier. According to his version, the first blows were carried out in April 2022 at their home, in the Paris suburbs. The attack will be followed by others, says the complainant: a kick in December 2022 in the Maldives, a slap and several kicks during a trip to Morocco in 2023, a punch in one eye in 2024.

“I was violent”

Still according to his story, the year before their separation, Grégory Guillotin had cameras installed in their home, claiming to want to monitor a craftsman working in the house. “In reality, this system was also used to constantly observe the actions and actions” of his companion, the comedian directing her “immediately reproaches (...) when she was resting, delayed in responding to his messages or did not carry out the tasks expected according to his criteria”, it is detailed in the complaint.

In the turmoil, Grégory Guillotin spoke publicly, claiming to be “ashamed” of his behavior towards his former partner. “For years, I made millions of people laugh. At home, on several occasions, I was also violent with the person who shared my life. Both are true. Both have been me. I never want to be second again.”
