Gers: an English retiree found dead at his home in Verlus

A shocking discovery. An 85-year-old man was found dead during the night from Friday to Saturday at his home in the small town of Verlus, in Gers. According to initial evidence, the octogenarian suffered very violent blows.

The victim, an English retiree, had lived in the village of around a hundred inhabitants for around twenty years. He had been living alone for several months in an isolated house, his wife being hospitalized.

A stolen vehicle

According to initial information collected by 20 Minutes, the police were alerted due to a refusal to comply committed by a Kia model vehicle earlier in the evening of Friday. A few hours later, the suspect car was spotted crashed in a ditch. The occupants managed to escape. The gendarmes then launched a search to find the owner of the vehicle and went back to Verlus, where they discovered the body of the octogenarian, visibly beaten. His vehicle had indeed disappeared.
