Legambiente Lombardia denounces the hydrocarbon spill in the Naviglio Grande

It is certainly early to comment on the undoubted responsibilities, which we hope will be promptly identified. We also hope that the administrations will be able to manage the future environmental emergency with the same quality of intervention demonstrated during these hours.

"The Naviglio Grande - continues Legambiente - is not just an element of the landscape, but an ecosystem service that improves the quality of life of the inhabitants, as well as being home to fragile ecosystems and a fundamental water reserve for agriculture and animal husbandry in this period of serious shortage".

"After this spill, probably unprecedented in the Milan area, all the prerogatives and services offered by this blue infrastructure will not be available - concludes the environmental association - until the contamination is reduced at least to the terms of the law. Legambiente Lombardia will contribute in all the competent bodies to ascertaining the responsibility for this serious environmental damage".
