Luciano Zucco leads the race for the RS government with 29%, followed by Juliana Brizola with 23%, according to a Quaest survey

Federal deputy Luciano Zucco (PL) leads the dispute for the Government of Rio Grande do Sul with 29%, followed by Juliana Brizola (PDT) with 23%, according to a Quaest survey released this Thursday (24).

They are tied at the limit of the margin of error, plus or minus three percentage points.

Next comes vice-governor Gabriel Souza (MDB), with 10%.

Close behind are Marcelo Maranata (PSDB), with 3%, and Priscila Voigt (UP) and Rejane de Oliveira (PSTU), with 1% each. Cesar Pontes (PCO) did not score.

Undecided voters account for 25%, while 8% of voters said they will vote blank or null.

Quaest's September portrait shows an improvement in the PL candidate, who had 26% in the Quaest survey on August 24, while the PED candidate scored 23%.

In the spontaneous survey released this Thursday, in which the names of the candidates are not shown to voters, Zucco appears with 20%, followed by Juliana Brizola (10%) and Gabriel Souza (5%).

In a possible second round between Zucco and Brizola, the deputy has 40% of voting intentions, against 34% for the Pedestrian.

In another scenario, between Zucco and Gabriel Souza (MDB), the PL candidate appears with 42%, while the vice-governor has 26%.

In the August 24 poll, Brizola had 36%, against Zucco's 33% in a possible second round between the two. In the confrontation between Zucco and Souza, the PL candidate scored 33%, against 22% for the emedebista.

Flávio Bolsonaro's candidate and chosen by former president Jair Bolsonaro to run for government, Zucco's vice-president is state deputy Silvana Covatti (PP).

Juliana, whose vice-president of Conab (National Supply Company) Edegar Pretto (PT), is running in an alliance articulated by the national leadership of the PDT and the PT, which is not launching its own candidate for the government of Rio Grande do Sul for the first time in 40 years.

Gabriel Souza, governor Eduardo Leite's (PSD) candidate for succession, competes with deputy Ernani Polo (PSD) as vice-president.

The dispute for the two Rio Grande do Sul seats in the Senate is tight. Manuela d'Ávila (PSOL) has 14% of voting intentions, according to the Quaest survey. She is followed by Marcel van Hattem (New), with 11%.

Former government minister Lula Paulo Pimenta (PT) and federal deputy Ubiratan Sanderson (PL) each have 10%; former governor Germano Rigotto (MDB) appears with 9% and state deputy Frederico Antunes (PSD) has 2%.

Next come Milton Cardoso (PSDB), Daniela Mulheres Socialistas (PSTU) and Tania Peres (UP), with 1% each. Luciano from MLB (UP), Renato Jaguarão (Cidadania), Ric Jones (PCO) and Regis Ethur (PSTU) did not score.

In the August 24 poll, Manuela d'Ávila had 12%, Marcel van Hattem and Paulo Pimenta, 9% each, and Rigotto and Sanderson, 8% each. Frederico Antunes scored 1%.

Undecided voters account for 30%, while 11% said they will vote blank or null. In August, undecided people were 37% and whites and null people were 14%.

The Flávio and Lula camps consider the dispute a national priority as there are two open positions: senators Paulo Paim (PT) and Luis Carlos Heinze (PP) are retiring.

The survey, commissioned by RBS Participações S.A./Televisão Gaúcha S.A., interviewed 900 voters in Rio Grande do Sul. The confidence level is 95%, and the maximum margin of error is plus or minus three percentage points.
