Major fire breaks out at gas pipeline in Syria's Deir ez-Zor province

TUNIS, September 29. /TASS/. A major fire broke out at a gas pipeline in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province, Syria TV reported.

According to the channel, the fire erupted along a section of the pipeline near a community south of the city of Deir ez-Zor. The blaze is intense, with flames visible from a considerable distance.

There have been no reports of casualties. The cause of the fire, the extent of damage to the pipeline, and its possible impact on gas supplies have yet to be determined. Syrian authorities had not commented on the incident at the time of publication.

The Deir ez-Zor province is home to major Syrian oil and gas fields and energy infrastructure facilities. A significant portion of the region’s infrastructure was damaged during years of armed conflict. Syrian authorities have recently been working to restore a number of fields, pipelines, and other facilities.
