The US and Iran discussed with mediators the end of the conflict in the Middle East

WASHINGTON, September 29 – RIA Novosti. Representatives of the United States and Iran on Monday separately discussed with mediating countries ways to end the conflict in the Middle East, Reuters reports, citing representatives of both countries.

"U.S. and Iranian officials held separate talks with mediators on Monday as part of renewed efforts to end the seven-month war," the report said.

Sources told reporters that future talks will focus on changes to the seven-day plan that Iran presented to the United States last week.

Details of the discussions, as well as when and in what format the next negotiations will take place, are not reported.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that Tehran handed over to the American side a seven-day plan for opening the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for lifting the naval blockade and restrictions on oil exports. However, US President Donald Trump rejected this proposal. At the same time, the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry noted on Sunday night that Iran is waiting for a final answer from the mediators, despite Trump’s statement.
