Man Arrested for Random Stabbing Attack in Tainan

"I want to kill someone!" A man surnamed Chen randomly attacked strangers surnamed Li and Ye on the streets of Tainan with a pedicure file. Chen Nan chased Li Nan all the way to the Jinhua Police Station of the Sixth Precinct, where he was suppressed and arrested by the police on the spot. The Tainan District Prosecutor's Office concluded the investigation and prosecuted Chen Nan on suspicion of attempted murder.

The indictment pointed out that Chen knew that the abdomen and back of the human body were covered with important organs and blood vessels, and that being punctured by a sharp blade could easily lead to death. Uncertain of his intention to kill, at about 8:00 pm on February 3 this year, at the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Jinhua Road and Jianjian Road in the Southern District of Tainan City, he rushed towards the oncoming man Li with a pedicure file and stabbed him once in the abdomen. After Li Nan was stabbed, Chen Nan stabbed Ye Nan in the back as he was passing by, causing Ye Nan to suffer a puncture wound of about 2 centimeters in the back.

In order to escape for his life, the injured Li Nan ran to the nearby Jinhua Police Station for help. Unexpectedly, Chen Nan did not give up and pursued him closely with a knife. When Li Nan fled to the steps in front of the police station and fell down and struggled and shouted, Chen Nan continued to stab Li Nan on the ground, including his abdomen and back, and other fatal parts. This wave of attacks resulted in Mr. Li suffering a 1.8-centimeter puncture wound on his left upper abdomen, causing gastric perforation and ischemic shock. He also suffered a puncture wound on his right back that reached deep into the pleural layer and caused a hemothorax. There was also a 5-centimeter cut wound on his right ring finger.

When the police officer surnamed Wang in the police station heard the cry for help outside the door, he immediately went out to check and stepped forward to stop Chen Nan. Chen Nan ignored the police's obstruction and still tried to attack Li Nan who fell to the ground. It was not until Officer Wang and other supporting police forces jointly suppressed him to the ground that Chen Nan stopped the attack and confessed his intention to commit the crime to the police on the spot.

The police seized a file used in the crime at the scene and sent the two victims to the hospital for emergency treatment. They survived after being rescued. The prosecutor reviewed the evidence at the scene and the injury report and determined that Chen Nan was suspected of attempted homicide under the criminal law and was prosecuted in accordance with the law.
