A woman was found dead this Monday morning (31) in the village of Estrela, in the rural area of Viana, in Baixada Maranhense. The victim was identified as Adriana Ribeiro Pacheco, 31 years old. The case is investigated by the Maranhão Civil Police as feminicide.

The body had multiple bruises and injuries to the face and head, compatible with attacks caused by a blunt object. The victim's son was at the scene at the time of the crime and reported that the attacker had used a broomstick to hit Adriana.

Gymnast Maria Eduarda Teixeira, aged 10, experienced a moment of overcoming during the Northeast Regional Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament, in São Luís. After becoming nervous and leaving the court in the middle of the presentation, the athlete received support from the team and returned in the final seconds to participate in the series with her colleagues. The scene, recorded on video, went viral on social media (watch above).
The presentation took place last Wednesday (26). In the video, Maria Eduarda appears trembling while receiving support from Ana Cláudia Hasse Endler, competition coordinator sent by the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation (CBG) to monitor the tournament.
The video has already surpassed 4 million views, in addition to receiving thousands of messages of affection and encouragement.

A 17-year-old teenager died after being the victim of a knife attack on Monday afternoon (31), in the village of Cana Brava, rural area of Água Doce do Maranhão. The victim was identified as Bruna Loiola.
A 16-year-old teenager was apprehended by a team from the 2nd Military Tourism Police Battalion (BPTur), on suspicion of having committed the crime.
According to the Maranhão Civil Police, the teenager delivered 21 stab wounds to Bruna, who was rescued but did not survive her injuries.

A jaguar was seen roaming the streets of the Grande Cafeteira region, in Imperatriz, since the early hours of Tuesday (1). The animal was recorded by residents' security cameras and reappeared the following morning before disappearing (See the video above).
According to residents, the jaguar traveled through several streets in the Vila Cafeteira and Alto Bonito neighborhoods. From the images, the animal appeared to be disoriented, but there were no records of attacks on people or animals.
The region has a large area of vegetation and stretches of forest, which may have made it easier for the animal to remain hidden. The jaguar was seen on a stretch of Avenida Brasil, where residents managed to catch the animal passing by on a security camera.
The 16-year-old teenager arrested on suspicion of stabbing student Bruna da Silva Loiola, 17, to death, was considered a quiet and unsociable student by teachers at the school where the two studied, in Água Doce do Maranhão. She was buried this Wednesday morning (2), in the village of Buriti Redondo, in the rural area of the municipality.
In an interview with TV Mirante, professor Franciel Araújo stated that the young man had recently joined the night shift and that the school staff tried to help him integrate with the other students, but he tended to remain isolated.
"Unfortunately, until Thursday and Friday, I taught this individual. Very strange. From the first day he arrived at our time, we, myself as a teacher and the other companions, tried to get closer to him, we tried to associate him with the other students and he always, individually, was him, only him, he was never, like, that student who shared with his companions", he reported.

A 15-year-old teenager was arrested in Timon, Maranhão, suspected of torturing more than 200 kittens during live broadcasts on digital platforms. The action took place after six months of investigation by the Digital Observation and Analysis Center (Noad), of the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat.
The Maranhão Civil Police carried out, on Friday (29), the search and seizure and hospitalization warrants issued by the Court. During the operation, a cell phone was seized.
According to delegate Lisandrea Salvariego, coordinator of Noad, the teenager abused “five to six animals in the morning”. During the investigation, the deputy also received threats from the young man.

Law student Eldimir Otávio Coelho Neto, shot during an attempted robbery on Tuesday night (1st), after leaving a gym on Avenida Daniel de La Touche, in the Cohama neighborhood, in São Luís, remains hospitalized in stable condition. The information was confirmed by the victim's father, Eldimir Otávio Júnior.
According to the father, his son's health condition is stable, despite the severity of the injuries. Eldimir Otávio Júnior stated that the young man has shown progress in his clinical condition and that his physical conditions have contributed to his recovery.
"He is progressing. The fact that he is young, has an athletic body and has no comorbidities helps considerably in the progress of treatment," he said.

An autistic and non-verbal child suffered a serious fracture in his right arm after being thrown to the floor during a therapeutic session at a private clinic in São Luís. The case took place on July 24, but gained repercussion in recent days, after images from a security camera were released.
In the images, a man appears interacting with the child during care (watch above). At one point, he throws her against the ground. The victim left the clinic crying and with an injured arm, according to the family.
According to the family, tests revealed a serious fracture. Because of the injury, the child had to undergo emergency elbow surgery and spent 30 days in recovery. Only now is she resuming her routine activities.

According to information released on social media by the Animal Protection Project on the UFMA campus, a woman who was walking through the area had hit Dora with a piece of concrete (See the video above).
