Mariusz S. accused of abusing animals with particular cruelty

Mariusz S. was charged with particularly cruelty to 14 Bengal cats, 39 Thai Ridgeback dogs, 10 Chinese bulldogs and 2 African dormouse dogs. The man kept the animals in a state of gross neglect and without proper food and water, said prosecutor Tomasz Ozimek, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Częstochowa, on Wednesday.

The man was taken into custody

Some of the animals were kept in a dark basement, two of them did not survive. Mariusz S., interrogated as a suspect, did not confess to the crime he was accused of.

After his questioning, the prosecutor applied to the District Court in Lubliniec for provisional arrest. The prosecutor justified this with a justified fear of the suspect escaping or hiding and the fear of fraud. The court accepted the prosecutor's request and arrested Mariusz S. for 2 months.

Volunteers intervened

The case was publicized by volunteers of the Lower Silesian Inspectorate of Animal Protection (DIOZ) and representatives of the "Falko and Friends" Foundation. On September 24, 2026, they went to intervene in the town of Sadów in the Lubliniec poviat. Police officers also arrived at the scene. There were several dozen dogs and cats and two African dormouses on Mariusz S.'s property.
