Shocking details of the investigation into violence in the foster family

After receiving information from the police from Myślenice, officers from Zgierz went to the foster family's apartment. The foster parents tried to mislead the police by claiming that the boy was staying with another family member. During the inspection, the child entered the apartment and numerous injuries were noticed on his body.

Bruises were visible on the head and back, and a detailed examination also revealed them on the chest and buttocks, said Paweł Jasiak, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Łódź.

Investigators' findings show that the children were regularly beaten with wooden objects, insulted, forced to kneel naked or exposed to frost. The boy was punished, among others: for not finding a pair of socks or forgetting to walk the dog.

During the investigation, it turned out that the boy's sister was also a victim of violence. The girl was deliberately bathed in icy water and her head was shaved bald.

There were a total of eight children in the house - seven from foster care and the daughter of one of the accused.

The foster parents (a 40-year-old and a 31-year-old) are accused of child abuse and failure to respond to the 39-year-old's violence.

The foster mother did not plead guilty to the charges and provided explanations that - according to the prosecutor's office - are inconsistent with the collected evidence. A friend of the foster parents also did not admit to committing a crime, although he admitted to using various methods that he described as "educational".

All children were taken care of by other families and institutions in cooperation with the family court and social welfare centers. Due to the threat of fraud and the possibility of escape, the court temporarily arrested all three suspects. They face up to 10 years in prison.
