Mersin Mayors and 50 Suspects Arrest Requested

Within the scope of the corruption investigation carried out by the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Mersin Metropolitan Municipality and Yenişehir and Mezitli municipalities, a detention order was issued for 63 suspects, including Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer, Yenişehir Mayor Abdullah Özyiğit and Mezitli Mayor Ahmet Serkan Tuncer.

VAHAP Seçer WAS ARRESTED

Following the detained suspects, Yenişehir Mayor Abdullah Özyiğit and Mezitli Mayor Ahmet Serkan Tuncer, Metropolitan Mayor Vahap Seçer was also arrested.

OPERATION WAS HELD ON OCTOBER 1: 59 DETAINED

According to the news in DHA, Provincial Police Department Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch Directorate teams carried out an operation at many addresses at dawn on October 1. While it was determined that 4 people in the investigation file were detained, 59 suspects were detained.

60 SUSPECTS WERE REFERRED TO THE COURTHOUSE

The teams searched the suspects' addresses and municipal buildings. The suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were sent to the courthouse yesterday morning. Meanwhile, an additional detention was made within the scope of the investigation. With this suspect being referred to the courthouse, the number increased to 60.

ARREST REQUESTED FOR 50 PEOPLE

50 of the 60 people, including Seçer, Özyiğit and Tuncer, whose interrogations were completed at the prosecutor's office, were referred to the court with a request for arrest. A judicial control order was requested for 10 suspects.

TWO DISTRICT MAYORS WERE ARRESTED

Yenişehir Mayor Özyiğit and 5 suspects from the same municipality were arrested by the court, while 1 suspect was given house arrest. On the other hand, Mezitli Mayor Tuncer and 9 suspects from the same municipality were arrested by the court, 6 people were given house arrest, and 1 suspect was released on condition of judicial control.
