A new helipad and multi-story parking lot next to the hospital

The newly opened landing field is a real breakthrough in the Polish health service. Built on the roof of a ten-story building, at a height of 28 meters, it is the first facility of this type in the country that can accommodate Black Hawk military helicopters.

The landing pad has a load-bearing capacity of up to 11.5 tons, which allows the landing of both Air Ambulance helicopters and machines of the Polish Armed Forces and NATO allied troops.

The facility was connected to the Hospital Emergency Department and the Trauma Center with a special gallery system and two communication sections with staircases and two hospital elevators. This will make the transport of patients from the helicopter to the place of assistance even faster.

Parking fit for the 21st century

As many as eight parking levels were built under the landing pad, offering 480 parking spaces, including 30 for people with disabilities. This is a response to the hospital's long-standing problems with lack of parking spaces.

We used the space under the helipad structure to create a modern multi-storey parking lot. This will increase the availability of parking spaces for patients, their families, employees and people with disabilities - emphasizes the hospital director, Barbara Rogowska.

The first 15 minutes of parking in the parking lot are free of charge, and for each additional hour you have to pay PLN 5.

Safety and modernity

The new facility has dual, civil and military use. In crisis situations, such as natural disasters, mass disasters or military threats, the landing pad will enable quick transport of injured people and support rescue operations.

It will also serve allied troops in Poland.

The construction of the helipad and parking lot cost PLN 79.9 million. Most of the funds - over PLN 66 million - came from the voivodeship budget, and PLN 13.2 million was contributed by the state under the Civil Protection and Civil Defense Program. The hospital allocated over PLN 633,000 for the investment. zloty.
