American diplomats used access to Nvidia AI chips for a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan

US diplomats have used a promise to provide access to Nvidia's latest AI chips to help broker a preliminary peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Construction of the Firebird data center with a project cost of over $5 billion has begun in the Armenian city of Hrazdan.

The agreements signed in Washington, including the memorandum on semiconductors and AI, became “important peace dividends,” the press secretary of the Armenian Prime Minister confirmed.

WASHINGTON, September 5 – RIA Novosti. The promise of access to Nvidia's latest AI chips helped American diplomats persuade Armenia and Azerbaijan to a preliminary peace agreement, the Wall Street Journal writes, citing negotiators.

U.S. negotiators used a promise to provide access to Nvidia's artificial intelligence chips to help secure a preliminary peace deal reached last year between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

As part of these agreements, according to the publication, construction of a Firebird data center with a project cost of over $5 billion began in the Armenian city of Hrazdan. By the end of next year, they plan to equip the complex with 70 thousand Nvidia servers of the latest generations Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin with a total computing power of about 300 MW.

At the same time, the press secretary of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikola Pashinyan confirmed to the newspaper that the bilateral agreements signed last summer in Washington, including the memorandum on semiconductors and AI, became “important peace dividends.”
