The bodies of Federico Vella and Lorenza Isceri were found by the traffic police under the Lora viaduct, in the Barberino del Mugello area. Shortly before dying, the woman had asked 112 and a friend for help: the 36-year-old threw his ex-partner from the overpass and then took his own life. An autopsy has been ordered on the 45-year-old's body to understand whether she had already been killed before being thrown into the void
Murder-suicide in A1. The lifeless bodies of a 45-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were found under a motorway overpass at around 3.30pm today. According to police reconstructions, the man pushed the woman, his ex-partner, into the void, and then threw himself from the Lora viaduct (not Altena as previously written) along the motorway, in the Barberino del Mugello area, at the crossroads between the Panoramica and the Direttissima. The victim is Lorenza Isceri, a company manager originally from Lecce who lived in Florence. The man instead is Federico Vella, also resident in Florence.
Lorenza Isceri had asked for help
Shortly before her death, the woman had tried to ask for help by contacting the single emergency number 112 and also a friend. It was precisely the victim's call to 112 that triggered the alarm: the police headquarters operations room ordered a search for the car on the motorway but when the traffic police patrol arrived on site there was nothing left to do. The car was on the side of the road.

Perhaps killed before being thrown from the overpass
For investigators it is possible that the woman had already been killed before being thrown from the overpass. In fact, the man allegedly ambushed her, blocking her in the garage of her home in Florence and then locking her in the trunk of the car and reaching the A1. During the journey, Vella realized that he had left his backpack with a cell phone in the trunk, the same one with which the woman called 112 and a friend for help. The man stopped the car, snatched her cell phone and threw her off the viaduct. At that point the traffic police arrived on the scene: the woman was already on the ground while the man was balanced on the overpass. As demonstrated by the cameras placed on the A1 and the body cam supplied to the officers, the police tried to approach Vella who however threw himself into the void. The investigations coordinated by the prosecutor Antonio Natale and conducted by the Florence flying squad, led by Domenico Balsamo, are now trying to understand whether Federico Vella killed Lorenza Isceri before throwing her from the viaduct. To clarify this hypothesis, the prosecutor's office ordered an autopsy on the body of the 45-year-old.
The message on social media before the gesture
Vella, before going to her ex's house and forcibly loading her into the car, had published a story on Instagram with the words "Goodbye everyone". A final message that announced the desire to make an extreme gesture against his ex-partner and towards himself. In the Instagram story you can also read, on a black background, the phrase "I love you enough not to talk to you when I could hurt you". Last August 12, Vella had also published a video, again on Instagram, with a series of images of his ex-girlfriend and writing: "Certain joints are so perfect that, even if you separate them, the shape of the other remains with you forever. To you, who are the woman I loved with all of myself and lost through my stupidity. I will be yours even if I can no longer be."
Section A1 closed for hours
The firefighters and staff from the Florence 4th Section Directorate of Autostrade per l'Italia also attended the scene. Following the incident on the A1 Panoramica, around 3.30pm, the section between the junction with the A1 Direttissima and Roncobilaccio was temporarily closed. The stretch was then reopened at 9.45pm, once all the investigations had been completed.
