Stone falls on Santos street after heavy rain; resident records video of the moment

Renata Ribeiro, a resident of the region, made a video minutes after the fall. The images show the structure on Rua São Cristóvão, next to a trash can and a parked car. "I had just passed by there. Jesus, what a deliverance today," she said in the video.

To g1, Renata explained that she uses the route to cut the way down the hill. She saw the stone come loose and said she was really scared.

"Second before, I passed by the place where the stone fell. I heard a very loud noise, I was scared, right? When I looked, I saw the stone rolling. I even waved at a van that was coming down the street, to stop. [...] It was quite a scare," he said.

According to an investigation by TV Tribuna, a Globo affiliate, Santos City Hall reported that the stone has already been removed by the Municipal Civil Defense. There were no records of victims or vehicles and structures damaged by the incident.

Also according to the agency, residents of the hills region should remain alert, due to the high volume of rain that has been hitting Baixada Santista, especially during the month of September.

The Civil Defense of Santos reported, in a note, that the rainfall in the last 6 hours was 3.2 mm. The accumulated number for the month is 503.9 mm, until September 23rd.
