Police hid in residence - stopped suspected fraud

Samuel Persson was one of the police officers waiting inside the home. In the clip, he talks about the effort.

The elderly person had been called by someone claiming to work for a company on behalf of the person's insurance company. The lines needed to be flushed, the person was told - otherwise the home insurance would not apply.

A home visit was booked. But the person began to suspect that something was not right and consulted relatives, who later contacted the police.

The police hid in the residence

The police had previously received several similar reports and recognized details in what the relative told.

- It was the details of what they gave to the police when they called that agreed with other cases where we suspect fraud, says Samuel Persson, area police in Ljungby.

This time, the police received the information before the suspected crime had been carried out. Samuel Persson and his colleagues were therefore able to get to the home and hide there before the scheduled home visit.
