Russian attack on Kyiv after the end of the ceasefire - six people injured

On the night from Monday to Tuesday, the inhabitants of Kiev heard alarm sirens again. Russian forces attacked the capital of Ukraine with ballistic missiles and drones. According to information provided by the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, residential buildings and an educational facility in the Hołosiyiv district were damaged as a result of the strikes. There may be people trapped under the rubble in one of the houses. Emergency services are conducting a search operation.

End of the ceasefire

The attack occurred just after the end of a three-day ceasefire that Russia and Ukraine announced in connection with the visit of American negotiators - Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The moratorium was to apply during the talks in Moscow and Kiev. Just before midnight, the Russian news agency TASS confirmed that the ceasefire had ended. A moment later, explosions rang out over Kiev.

According to information provided by the Kiev authorities, at least six people were injured as a result of the attack, three of whom were taken to hospital. Fires broke out in several districts of the city, including in residential buildings.

Russian drones also struck in the Fastiv and Boryspil areas near Kiev. The targets were logistics centers and industrial enterprises. Firefighters fought all night long to fight fires that broke out after the explosions.

No breakthrough in peace talks

Meetings of American envoys in Moscow and Kiev did not bring the expected breakthrough in peace talks. The war that began over four years ago with Russia's invasion of Ukraine is still taking a tragic toll.

Ukraine attacks

Ukraine also carried out strikes on Russian territory. Drones attacked civilian infrastructure in the Russian city of Saratov on the Volga River and injured several people, the region's governor Roman Busargin said on the Telegram messenger on Tuesday.

Saratov Oblast is home to a large oil refinery operated by the state oil company Rosneft, as well as a number of other industrial and military facilities.
