Russia attacks Kyiv with missiles and drones - several injured

Kyiv. Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital Kiev with ballistic missiles and drones on Sunday night. According to the city's military administration, three people were injured. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on the short message service Telegram that falling debris had sparked a fire in a commercial area in the northern suburb. Several cars were on fire. Another fire also broke out in an area south of the city center. Explosions were heard in the city. Previously, the air alarm had been triggered twice after 2 a.m. (local time), each lasting around half an hour. The governor of the Kiev region, Tymur Tkachenko, reported that three more people, including a child, were injured in drone strikes in the surrounding area. Russia has increased its airstrikes on Kiev and other Ukrainian cities in recent weeks. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj posted a video of burning houses on the online platform X on Sunday morning. He wrote that a person had also died in the city of Sumy. “Air alerts have continued in many regions since this morning – Russia has launched another wave of drones,” Zelensky wrote.
