Santa Catarina defines routes, times and prices for regional flights

Santa Catarina defined the routes, times and prices for the regional flight project, which will connect 10 cities in the state in an air network. Everything comes into effect from November 3rd.

The airline Azul will operate the flights, with connections between regional airports and Florianópolis. Tickets will cost between R$315 and R$815 and go on sale on September 28th.

The ticket price includes on-board service and free check-in of hand luggage and one suitcase weighing up to 23 kilos.

With the measure, a trip from Florianópolis to Joinville that would take, on average, just over 2 hours by car, can take 55 minutes by plane. From the capital to Joaçaba, the average is six hours by car. The flight takes 1h30.

Flight calculations and speeds were confirmed by the airline, but may be faster or slower depending on weather conditions, according to the Secretariat of Ports, Airports and Railways of Santa Catarina (see estimates below).

The secretary of the Secretariat of Ports, Airports and Railways (SPAF), Ivan Amaral, informed that the choice of days and times took into account airport infrastructure and the state's weather conditions.

"In discussions with the service operator, Azul Conecta, we defined flights departing from the coastal region at the beginning of the day, expanding to the Midwest and Far-West, afterwards", declared the secretary.

The initiative is part of the VOA+SC program, which seeks to expand air transport of passengers and cargo. The state government's investment is R$22.5 million in the first 12 months.
