Apple Retail Italy workers strike on September 18th

ROME – On September 18th, workers at Apple Retail Italia will strike for the entire work shift, coinciding with the arrival of the new generation of iPhone 18 in Italian stores. Filcams Cgil, Fisascat Cisl and Uiltucs announced this in a note, explaining that the protest was called "against the increase in workloads and to ask for answers on staffing".

The decision came at the end of the meetings held on September 7th simultaneously in Apple stores throughout Italy, in which the discussion with the company and the ongoing state of unrest were taken stock.

"The workers in the stores have been sustaining a level of pressure for some time that cannot be further aggravated. We have put forward precise proposals to address the organizational difficulties, but so far no adequate responses have arrived", declares Filcams Cgil.

To address the critical issues, the trade unions have been proposing, for months, a shared hiring plan, the stabilization of a fixed amount of working hours and the voluntary increase in part-time hours, to be modulated on the needs of individual shops and with certain times.

In the meetings of the last few months, the unions' note continues, the company did not express availability to their proposals, "exclusively announcing an increase in fixed-term contracts and an advance in the related hiring".
