According to the statement made by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Xi and President Trump held a meeting between delegations at the White House.

Xi stated that the consultations between the economic and trade delegations of the two countries agreed on a new joint regulation, which is good news for the people of the two countries, their industries and the global economy.

Expressing that cooperation is a two-way process, Xi emphasized that the stability of China-US economic and trade relations depends on expanding the list of cooperation issues and shortening the list of problematic issues.

At the meeting between Trump and Xi in October 2025 in Busan, South Korea, the parties reached a temporary compromise on the disputed issues.

At their meeting yesterday, the economic delegations of the two countries agreed to extend the temporary agreement, which will expire on November 10, to January 2027.

Xi pointed out that China and the USA, which are great powers in the field of artificial intelligence, can cooperate as well as compete in this field, saying, "Both sides can highlight their mutual strengths instead of acting defensively against each other. The Chinese leader underlined that human control should be maintained in artificial intelligence technology, adhere to a human-centered and benevolent approach, and ensure that artificial intelligence serves human progress.

Artificial intelligence security stands out as one of the important topics of the summit. The two countries are expected to launch an "artificial intelligence dialogue" that includes sharing information about the risks that artificial intelligence may pose and early warning of possible threats. However, differences in approach, with the United States focusing on controlling risks to artificial intelligence security and China advocating the creation of a more comprehensive global artificial intelligence management, have prevented a dialogue to continue until now.

On the other hand, US artificial intelligence developer companies claim that Chinese companies steal data from their models through a method called "distillation" and want the Washington administration to take measures to prevent this.

Reiterating his country's stance on the Taiwan issue, stating that this issue concerns national unity and territorial integrity, Xi called on the Washington administration to have the correct stance on "Taiwan independence" and protect the basis of China-US strategic cooperation and the development of bilateral relations.

Taiwan, which China claims is part of its territory, has had de facto independence since 1949. The separation and sovereignty dispute between mainland China and Taiwan, which emerged after the civil war, continues. Emphasizing the "one China" principle, the Beijing administration opposes Taiwan's establishment of diplomatic relations and its representation in the United Nations and other international organizations, and requires countries that recognize it to cut diplomatic relations with Taiwan.

The Beijing administration, which has increased military pressure on Taiwan in recent years, emphasizes that it will not exclude the use of force to reunify the island with the mainland. On the other hand, it is observed that Taiwan has increased its military expenditures in recent years and is trying to strengthen its defense capacity with new weapon systems purchased from the USA.

The two leaders also exchanged views on international and regional crisis issues such as the situation in the Middle East, Ukraine and the Korean Peninsula.

Stating that he wishes the USA and Iran to return to the path of solving problems through dialogue and negotiation, reach a comprehensive agreement, including the nuclear issue, and achieve peace as soon as possible, Xi said, "China argues that the sovereignty and security of all countries should be respected.
