Fatal accident on S8: Mercedes driver fled the scene, arrested

Escape and chase

The perpetrator of the accident did not provide help to the injured and fled the scene. He abandoned his car on the S8 road and tried to hide at a nearby gas station. There he was detained by officers from the Ostrów traffic police.

Charges and arrest

On Monday, the prosecutor's office charged the 39-year-old with causing a fatal accident, escaping from the scene and failing to help the injured. Yesterday, the court decided to impose a three-month arrest on the man. He faces 5 to 20 years in prison.

The initial examination showed that the Mercedes driver was sober, but his blood was taken for further tests to check whether he was under the influence of other drugs.
