The northeast monsoon has arrived, watch out for heavy rain tonight and tomorrow! The Central Meteorological Administration forecasts that there will be local heavy rain on the north coast of Keelung, Yilan and the greater Taipei mountainous area from tonight to tomorrow (15th). In addition, tropical depression TD28 currently over the sea east of Guam is expected to intensify into a mild typhoon "Dujuan" during the day tomorrow.

Cai Yiqi, a forecaster from the Meteorological Administration, said that the northeast monsoon will strengthen from tonight, and the rain will become more and more intense. Not only will there be heavy rain on the north coast of Keelung, Yilan, and the mountainous areas of Greater Taipei, but there will also be local brief showers in the east and southeast.

He said that the rain will be heaviest tomorrow (15th). In addition to the north and east, there will also be local short-lived showers in the north, northeast and Hengchun Peninsula of Taoyuan. There will also be scattered short-lived showers in the east and southeast. There will be local short-lived showers south of Chiayi in the afternoon. There will be local heavy rain in the mountainous areas south of Yunlin, which will continue until Wednesday (16th).

Cai Yiqi said that the northeast monsoon will weaken from Thursday, but the environment will blow from the east and there will still be moisture. There will still be local short-lived showers in Greater Taipei, eastern Taipei and the Hengchun Peninsula. In the afternoon, there will be sporadic short-lived showers in the southern and northern mountainous areas of central Taipei.

"After Friday (18th), the moisture gradually decreased and the weather gradually stabilized," Cai Yiqi pointed out. Starting from Friday, only the north coast, northeastern and eastern parts of Keelung, the mountainous areas of Greater Taipei, and the Hengchun Peninsula will have sporadic short-lived showers. In the afternoon, there will be sporadic short-lived showers in the mountainous areas north of the south and central areas, and in the southeastern mountainous areas, and will continue until next Monday (21st).

The tropical disturbance in the sea east of Guam has intensified into tropical depression TD28 this morning. Cai Yiqi said that the Meteorological Administration predicts that it will intensify into a mild typhoon "Dujuan" during the day tomorrow. It is currently predicted to move northwest. It will move to the sea south of Japan over the weekend and then turn north towards Japan. It should have less direct impact on Taiwan's weather.
