166 students in 20 teams will compete to be ranked in the "FPV Drone Tracking Competition" to be held in Eskişehir's Sivrihisar district within the scope of TEKNOFEST 2026, organized under the main leadership of the Turkish Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation) and the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
Associate, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students studying in Türkiye and abroad, as well as those interested, will participate in the competition to be held by the Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE) at Sivrihisar Aviation Center on 25-28 August.
In the competition, 20 teams consisting of a total of 166 students from home and abroad will try to follow the moving target drone with FPV drones and software they developed.
T3 Foundation Eskişehir Provincial Manager Samet Yurtsever told the AA correspondent that TEKNOFEST is not just about air shows, but technology competitions are the basis of the organization.
Stating that TEKNOFEST competitions encourage young people of different ages and education levels to develop projects in the field of technology, Yurtsever said, "Unlike its examples in the world, the main purpose of TEKNOFEST is to be a set of competitions. At its core, there are technology competitions. We are talking about competitions in which students from all age categories participate and compete in different fields." he said.
Yurtsever stated that in the "FPV Drone Tracking Competition", the teams will follow the moving target drone during the determined maneuvers with the systems they have developed, and that the competitors will be ranked according to the points they have achieved.
Emphasizing that competitions enable students to turn the theoretical knowledge they acquired at school into practice, Yurtsever noted that teamwork and project development experience are among the important achievements.
TEKNOFEST brings young people together with experts and academicians in the technology sector
Yurtsever stated that the contestants were given training by the experts of the regulatory organizations and said that TEKNOFEST brought young people together with experts and academicians in the technology sector.
Stating that the competitors are given various trainings by the experts of the regulatory organizations, Yurtsever said, "Apart from these trainings, the winning teams are given the opportunity to do internship by the regulatory organization. This is a great reward for the students." he said.
Yurtsever stated that Eskişehir has an important history in the field of aviation and said that the work carried out within the scope of TEKNOFEST in the city increases every year.
Stating that many teams from Eskişehir achieved success in different categories last year, Yurtsever stated that studies for TEKNOFEST are being carried out at universities in the city and schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education.
Yurtsever stated that students who are interested in the competition in Eskişehir can also follow the competition area within the scope of the work of the relevant institutions, and added that Eskişehir Governorship, Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, Provincial Directorate of Industry and Technology and Provincial Directorate of National Education are carrying out studies so that young people can follow the competitions.
