Over the past weekend, the Telegram messenger blocked more than 100 thousand groups and channels.

Over the previous week, the messenger blocked 471,054 groups and channels, of which 1,266 were communities associated with terrorism.

Since the beginning of the year, the number of blocks on Telegram has amounted to 26,643,380, of which 179,342 are communities related to terrorism.

MOSCOW, September 28 - RIA Novosti. Over the past weekend, the Telegram messenger blocked more than 100 thousand groups and channels, updating on Saturday the minimum figure since May 25, according to the messenger’s statistics, which RIA Novosti reviewed.

So, according to the data, on Saturday the messenger blocked 53,218 groups and channels, the lower value was on May 25 - 48,043. On Sunday, the figure was 59,598 groups and channels.

In total, over the previous week, the messenger blocked 471,054 groups and channels, of which 1,266 were communities “related to terrorism.”

Since the beginning of the year, the number of blockings has amounted to 26,643,380, of which 179,342 are communities “related to terrorism.”

Telegram notes that since 2015, moderation has included user complaints and "proactive monitoring" based on machine learning, and in early 2024, these efforts were complemented by artificial intelligence moderation tools.
