Turin: ex-partner tries to run over a man but overwhelms a 5-year-old child

He tried to run over a man but instead hit a 5-year-old boy. A 24-year-old woman, who emerged as the ex-partner of the child's father, is accused of attempted murder and aggravated bodily harm after the episode which occurred late yesterday evening, 26 September, in via Pinelli, in the San Donato district of Turin. The child, after being stabilized on site by the 118 rescuers, was transported in code red to the Sant'Anna Regina Margherita children's hospital where he is still hospitalized. The woman initially ran away but was then tracked down and stopped by the mobile unit of the Turin Carabinieri.

The dynamics

The exact dynamics of the accident are still being examined by investigators, as is the motive that pushed the 24-year-old to make the gesture: according to what emerged, the woman was the man's ex-partner and there may have been disagreements between the two linked to the concluded relationship. The man, according to the first reconstructions reported by La Stampa, was crossing the road with his son around 10.40pm when the woman arrived in her car and attempted to run him over. At the last second the man managed to escape but was unable to save the child who was hit by the vehicle. The child suffered abdominal trauma but, according to what has been learned, his life is not in danger.
