WHO IS SONER OLGUN?

Soner Olgun was born on June 18, 1959, in the Fethiye district of Muğla. After completing his primary education in Fethiye, Olgun graduated from Bornova Anatolian High School. He completed his higher education at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dokuz Eylül University, in the Theater/Dramatic Writing department.

Soner Olgun, who began his music career at a young age, became known particularly for his modern interpretations of tavern music and Turkish folk music.

WHAT IS SONER OLGUN’S HEALTH CONDITION?

It was learned that Soner Olgun was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the spring of 2025. The artist underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy during his treatment process. In a statement made in December 2025, Olgun stated that his treatments had been completed and that he was under doctors’ supervision. At that time, he said his health condition was good and that he continued his music work and stage performances. The artist had used the expressions, “We received all the treatments recommended by the doctors. Our surgery was performed.”

However, statements dated September 14, 2026, included information that Olgun’s health condition had worsened. The artist was hospitalized on August 30 due to high fever and was admitted to intensive care on September 1.

Olgun’s ex-wife, Özlem Koldaş, reported that the artist was conscious and said, “Get me out of here” when he saw his daughter. Koldaş stated that, following the doctors’ assessment and the family’s decision, Olgun was later taken home. It was stated that the artist was kept under 24-hour nurse supervision at home and that his condition was critical.
