934 Million TL Foreign Exchange Seized in 'Vanlı Kara Haydar' Investigation

In the investigation carried out against Mehmet Fatih Tançalan, known as 'Kara Haydar from Van', under the coordination of Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, for the crime of 'laundering of assets resulting from crime', foreign currency worth 934 million TL was seized during the search of the vehicles detected in Sarıyer Maslak.

The investigation launched against Mehmet Fatih Tançalan, known as 'Vanlı Kara Haydar', under the coordination of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, for the crime of 'laundering assets resulting from crime', continues.

During the work carried out by Ankara Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch teams within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that money belonging to Tançalan was hidden in vehicles in the Maslak District of Sarıyer district of Istanbul. At night, Tançalan's parking lot was raided and the vehicles were searched. A total of 64 thousand 700 foreign currency banknotes, including 57 thousand 700 euro banknotes for a total of 16 million 440 thousand euros (919.3 million TL), and 7 thousand 100 dollar bills for 700 thousand dollars (34,259 million TL), were found in boxes inside the vehicles.

1 SUSPECT WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

Approximately 934 million TL worth of foreign currency and 2 cars determined to have been used in the crime were seized. Additionally, 1 suspect was detained. The source of the seized money and its connection with the laundering of criminal assets are being investigated.
