Yeni Şafak Journalist Ersin Çelik's Fund Crisis Article Started the Discussion

The statements made in the pro-government Yeni Şafak newspaper regarding the "fund crisis", which is said to directly affect nearly 500 thousand investors, are the subject of great debate in AKP circles.

Ersin Çelik, Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper's website, who brought the issue to his column in Yeni Şafak, stated that the crisis could reach a point that could unseat AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

In such a period, if someone inside the government undermines the people's savings by standing or appearing to be close to the government; if they are not held to account convincingly, if the grievances are not remedied, if the markets are not put in order and if the names entrusted with positions are not reviewed, there will be a huge political rupture."

"The accumulated distrust may pave the way for a name from outside politics to become the head of the country, as in Ukraine," Çelik continued, claiming that corruption in Ukraine paved the way for Volodymyr Zelenskiy to become president and said, "Why? The accumulated anger went beyond the politicians and shook the trust in the system. What is happening today in our country may be the seed of such distrust."
