Reports of robbery and theft crimes decrease during the Chuseok holiday in Incheon... Total 112 reports increased

The Incheon Police Agency announced on the 28th that the number of reported robberies and theft crimes in Incheon during this year's Chuseok holiday decreased compared to last year.

There was only one robbery reported in Incheon during this year's Chuseok holiday, down from two during last year's holiday period.

Reports of theft incidents averaged 34.5 per day, a 23.5% decrease from last year’s 45.1 cases.

However, the total number of 112 reports received in Incheon during the Chuseok holiday averaged 3,675 per day, a 3.6% increase from 3,547 last year.

In celebration of Chuseok, the Incheon Police Agency conducted special security activities from the 17th to the 27th, deploying 17,350 police officers (an average of 1,577 per day) to inspect 2,462 places vulnerable to crime, including areas with a high concentration of single-person households.

The Incheon Police Agency announced that as a result of traffic management activities around cemeteries and resorts, the number of traffic accidents during the holiday season averaged 6.75 per day, a 64.5% decrease from 19 during the same period last year.

Incheon Police Chief Yoo Seung-ryeol said, “We will continue to listen to the voices of citizens and create a safer Incheon by strengthening patrols in crime-prone areas and protection of the socially vulnerable.”
